Phuket Weather, When to Go and Phuket Climate Information
(Phuket, Thailand, TH)
Phuket features a typically Thai climate, with hot temperatures averaging more than 30°C / 86°F for most of the year, and a distinct tropical monsoon season. Most visitors tend to flock to the island of Phuket from November to April, when the climate is at its most appealing and the weather is at its sunniest.
April is the hottest month, when you can expect temperatures to regularly top 35°C / 95°F, staying around 33°C / 91°F. During the sunny weather in the middle of April, locals all over Phuket celebrate the Songkran Festival by having water fights in the streets - a great way to cool down.
Phuket Weather and Climate: Seasonal Variations / When to Go - Phuket, Thailand, TH
Phuket's dry season falls between November and April, when the likelihood of rainy weather is minimal. This popular high season is perfect for those looking to make the most of Phuket's superb sandy beaches and coastal attractions, with plenty of sunny weather for those looking to relax, sunbathe and enjoy the many watersports on offer. You can also expect pleasant sea breezes, which make any humidity levels more acceptable.
From May to October, the climate in Phuket is quite different. This time of year is perhaps better known as the 'rainy season' or the 'green season', due the heavy tropical thunder storms and frequent rainy monsoon weather. However, the rainfall during this period is fairly predictable, with showers usually falling during the afternoons and at times, overnight, lowering the overall levels of humidity. Even during the wettest weather and dampest climate, you can still expect plenty of strong sunshine and lengthy periods of fine, blue skies.
The low season in Phuket has the advantage of cheaper accommodation, with a good choice of package deals usually available to suit most requirements. Also during this period, the attractions and beaches are usually far less crowded and there are still countless recreational activities on offer.
